Hi All,

WIP - 1:35 scale Maschinen Krieger, Gustav Repair.

This diorama will depict a Gustav being repaired after a battle and the mechanics have started straight away while the pilot talks to the head mechanic.

Figure's are from Miniart and the pilot is from set #37005 USMC Tank crew and the mechanics are from set #35285 German tank crew at work (Special Edition). The Gustav is from Hasegawa and it comes with two figures and is set #64102.

The special edition tank crew set comes with plastic and photo etched tools and parts and the other tools and equipment are from Italeri is set #419 Field tool shop.

Also here is a link to a website that explains the time line and history on S.F.3.D or Maschinen Krieger as it is called now if anyone is interested.

Remembered to bring a photo implement down with me today. Not a lot to see at this point still.

Today was all about the masking of the gray and then the orange stripes. Much masking applied and much more masking still to go. Won't be able to work on it again until Wednesday night, if even then.

Removed by original poster on 11/24/19 - 12:04:02 (GMT).

Hi All,

Update on the Gustav Repair dio.

I added rocks using kitty litter except for the large rock which my son got for me from school LOL. The ground work is a mix of fine sand and spakfilla and once applied and dried I painted and weathered it and the rocks using Vallejo Paints. The tent/shelter frame work was made using thin plastic rod as were the pegs and the cover is tissue and the rope is black cotton and once dry will be painted and weathered.

I have finished painting the Gustav and I added a little weathering and just need to add decals and then complete the weathering. The equipment that is on the base so far has been painted and weathered using Vallejo Paints.

Looks like I left the masking on too long while I was away on a business trip and then Thanksgiving.

Hit it with a custom mix of MM Italian Red and MM Bright Yellow for the orange today and then went to pull the tape off. Many small paint pulls on the front and rear fuselage sections and major peels on the vertical stabilizer.

Going to have to wait a couple days and then try to mask and respray the Light Gray basecoat on the tail and a couple other areas. I think the small pulls will become part of the weathering.

Not sure why the primer didn't stick so well, I wonder if I left some residue when I washed the sprues. I know I've had Tamiya tape on longer than this before.

Crisis averted.

Masked off the stripes using post-it notes and did a light respray of the tail fin and the bleeds.

Mocked up, ready for final assembly and then weathering.

Going to give this a shot, with the lighting kit. Was going to try last year, but ran into snags painting an X-wing and lost my mojo.

Nice choice, Shell. I have that kit in my stash as well. I think it will build up nice.

Looking forward to see how the lighting works out!

Thanks heaps Jesper and it's great using the 1/35 Maschinen Krieger kits as you have so much variety from other 1/35 kits that you can build anything.

Hi All,

Here are pics of the pieces and parts for my next diorama.

This diorama will depict a 1:35 Maschinen Krieger Kauz converted from a Melusine working on a disabled laser satellite.

Another diorama! You are on fire, Ron!

Interesting idea for the diorama. Is it set in space or on earth? I assume the satellite crashed on earth?

Dave: Nice work on the Viper, and good save on the paint work.

Ron: Very nice dio and idea. Well done and looking forward to your next one.

Shell: Looking forward to seeing how the Y-wing builds up. I've thought about that kit a couple of times now.

Happy Modeling,
Zon
