Rust, the new biggest survival PvP game, has only been out for two months and yet has already sold a million copies, despite still being in alpha stage,
Facepunch Studios, the creators of the popular Garry's Mod, have now brought a new bestselling game into the survival genre. Rust, originally meant to be a copy of DayZ, has now thrown out the zombie element entirely to focus on the real danger of the game... other players. Rust still draws themes from DayZ, as the goal of the game is to survive as long as you can, against such threats like starvation, hypothermia, and your fellow players.
However, Rust began to become unique in that players could create and craft their own shelters for them to hide in. The game began drawing hints of a dark Minecraft, as you could began to craft different things or hunt down animals. Granted, things are much more realistic in Rust and the pigs tend to squeal with pain and bleed when you hit them, unlike Minecraft. The adding of guns and explosives lets players battle it out and makes your fortified shelter turn into a house of straw, which in turn means you have to find creative ways to keep players on the other side of your walls and out of your stuff.
