Defiance, the game that sparked a TV show, was released several months ago. But is it any good?
Defiance is a third person shooter that is set in a post-apocalyptic world after aliens have waged war on the planet. You are a scavenger living on the remnants of the planet, trying to survive. You can choose to either be a human or one of the human-like aliens. The game does not follow classes, but instead you choose one of the four "origins", which are Veterans, Outlaws, Machinists, and Survivalists. You are hired by Karl Von Bach to try and advanced alien technology and must try and compete with other "Ark Hunters".
Yet despite being in development since August 2008 and working with Syfy to make a television series based on the plot, critics are not giving rave reviews. Metacritic gives the game 64/100 and Den of Geek! said it gave a "mixed experience" and was "slightly underwhelming". Most critics gave it a 60-70 range out of 100, which isn't exactly stellar. However, people are buying the game and playing it. In the end, you can decide.
